Happy Old Year

I tried to come up with a funny ditty from the past so I did some back reading on my favorite blog reads...One that really stood out in my mind was one from Greg Beck who unfortunately passed before his time...This reminds me of myself who used to love to have the big bow on my party dress tied perfectly! My father was the only person I would let tie that bow and I'll bet he regrets taking charge of that task! It had to be perfect!

So, here's to you Dad and Greg!

Tie the Knot

Saturday, February 1

I get off work on Thursday and head to the bus stop. Standing at the stop is this cat that by every indication is mentally handicapped in some sort of manner. He walks up to me and after getting closer then I normally like he asks me in this nasal monotone what time will the bus show up. I tell the cat it should be in a few minutes and he informs me that it was seven and a half minutes late. And here’s how the rest of the conversation went.

Me, “buses run late sometime”.
Him, “why”?
Me, “maybe the traffic held it up”.
Him, “why”?
Me, “its rush hour and all that”.
Him, “why”?
Me, “things happen like that”.
Him, “why”?
Him, “tie my knot”.
Me, “what”?
Him, “tie my knot”
Me, “what”?
Him, “tie my knot”.
Me, “what knot”?
Him, “on my coat”.
Me, “why”?
Him, “tie my knot”.
Him, “tie my knot”.
Him, “tie my knot”.
Him, “tie my knot”.
Me, “ok”.
Him, “tie my knot”.
Him, “tie my knot”.
Him, “tie my knot”.
Him, “tie my knot tight”.
Me, “I’m trying”.
Him, “can’t you tie a knot”?
Me, “its kind of hard from this side”.
Him, “tie my knot”.
Him, “tie my knot”

As I tied his fucking knot the shitting bus pulled up and as I look up from the knot to the bus I see everybody on the bus staring at me, cause there I am bent over in front of this cat fumbling with the drawstring on his coat, which is near his waist.

Him, “tie my knot”.
Him, “is that my bus”?
Me, “yeah”.
Him, “thank you”.
I can’t make this kind of shit up. Peace

Oh Honey!

Honey makes a comeback as nature's antibiotic!

Before too long, we may be able to go to our local drug store and
pick up honey adhesive strips. It worked for the Egyptians, why not now?

That's the thinking behind Medihoney, a new product based on manuka honey which has been known to kill germs and heal wounds where traditional antibiotics fail.

Dressing wounds has been an issue for diabetes patients when drug-resistant germs keep some abrasions from healing. This is where honey comes in. Using a material based on seaweed, they soak the dressing in leptospermum honey. It will not only kill microbes, but soak up fluids and get rid of the bad smell of wounds.

Honey being used in this way has picked up in other parts of the world already. Even when the concentration is diluted ten times, this stuff can kill bacteria. Let's hope honey-based medical products hit the open market soon -- some hospitals are already using it! People with weak immune systems or persistent trauma will be able to get a lot out of this.

Oh Honey!

Now I know....

The Do's and Don'ts of Pet Feng Shui

How to Feng Shui Your Pet
By Stephanie Dempsey
Provided by Tarot.com

Pets can generate wonderful feng shui, but did you also know they are affected by your home's environment? If you live with a furry, feathery or fuzzy creature, read the following tips. They'll help you and your friend live in harmony.

Feng Shui Advice

Do -- Get a pet if you feel tired, depressed or stuck in a rut. Animals represent fire energy. Adding fire energy to your life will make you more passionate about life. If you travel a lot, you can always get a low-maintenance pet, like an African Dwarf Frog. These aquatic animals can live in a fish tank and are ideal for putting in your prosperity gua (the far left corner of your home), where their gentle movement will stimulate new income.

Don't -- Neglect your pets. When you don't feed, bathe and nurture your pet properly, your feng shui will suffer. A fish tank with dirty, stagnant water can result in financial loss. A dog with a matted coat may prompt you to get overlooked for a promotion. An overweight cat may drive away romance. You may not realize it, but the way you treat people, pets and plants has a great bearing on your own self-image. Adjust your behavior accordingly.

Do -- Give your pet a special area that's just for them. Whether it's a cage, bed or cushion, this will honor your pet in a way that benefits your whole household. Make sure your pet's area is always clean and well maintained. The best spots for an animal's perch are the near left corner or the center portion of the far wall of your home. When you designate a special spot for your animals, it will be easier to be recognized for your own talents and contributions.

Don't -- Let your pets run wild. Giving your pets free range goes against the natural order of life. If you don't assume the master position in your household, people will constantly take advantage of you in other areas of life. Designate counters and tabletops as off limits. Don't allow you animals to maul visitors. Above all, never feed your animals scraps. They will become shameless beggars and sap your energy.

Do -- Put your cat's litter box in an optimal place. Feng shui experts are always warning people against putting the cat box in the relationship and prosperity corners. So where should you put this necessary piece of equipment? Try the near right corner, which represents helpful people. By providing your cat with a clean litter box where he or she feels safe and protected by two surrounding walls, you'll win their undying devotion. Maintaining a well-kept litter box will also prompt others to be more compassionate toward you.

Don't -- Let your pets sleep on your bed. This can put a real damper on your love life and create intimacy problems for you. Many animal lovers drive romance from their doors by putting their pets first in all circumstances. When it comes to relationships, people should come before pets. That doesn't mean you should get rid of your cat or dog if you meet someone who dislikes animals. But it does mean that you shouldn't treat your pet like a substitute lover or child.

Do -- Integrate photos of your animal throughout your home. Putting pictures of your animal in the center right portion of your home will make them feel like one of the family. This can be especially helpful when you're introducing a new animal into your home. Display these pictures in natural wood frames so that you will boost your pet's natural fire energy.

Don't -- Go overboard with pets. Assess your living space before adding more animals. Having tons of cats in a tiny apartment isn't good for you or the animals. Too many pets can be symbolic of a person who is avoiding human relationships. This can cause real problems spiritually, physically and emotionally. If you really want to devote yourself to animal welfare, keep a reasonable amount of pets and volunteer at your local shelter.

Do -- Make allowances for your pet's idiosyncrasies. All animals -- humans included -- have strange quirks. Some cats prefer drinking out of a faucet rather than a water bowl. A dog can develop passionate attachment for a particular toy. In cases like these, there will come a time when you have to decide whether it's worth breaking the animal's spirit. Leaving the faucet dripping or stocking up on a hefty supply of Blue Pro Penn racquetballs may be preferable than forcing a change.

Don't -- Be afraid to let animals into your life. Often, people who lost a pet as a child avoid getting another. The fact is that animals are a tremendous source of joy. By adopting one, you'll make a loving connection with another living being. There's no better way to experience good feng shui. So do some research into your ideal animal, talk to a responsible pet owner about the pros and cons, and adopt a friend from your animal shelter. You won't regret it.

What will they think of next?

While reading tonight I came across this article...

Bathtub or baby blender?
Posted Dec 18th 2007 1:28PM by Roger Sinasohn

A new style of infant bathtub from the Netherlands is generating a fair bit of buzz on the internet. The idea is to mimic the position the baby was in when inside the womb. It also provides better water coverage -- everything below the neck is underwater -- so the baby is less likely to get cold.

The manufacturers even claim it will help with colic and learning to stand. The issue is that when you put the Tummy Tub on its included stand and put a baby in it, it sure looks a lot like a baby-in-a-blender. I imagine it's something like what we'd see from Anne Geddes if she turned evil (or more evil, depending on your opinion of her work.)

Despite the imagery, it seems like it would be difficult to actually wash a kid all squished up in there. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Japanese ofuro -- deep, straight-sided soaking tubs -- but I'm not sure this is all that practical. Still, there are a lot of testimonials on the site that make it out to be the best thing since sliced bread. What do you think? Is this a good idea? Would you try it with your newborn? Or would you be too worried about someone accidentally hitting the "puree" button?

What next, a microwave to dry them in? Oh...what will they think of next?
