Last week was the big test...it rained, and I am happy to report there are no more leaks! Even the skylights over the pool are dry! I'll post pictures later when I have them all organized in chronological order. I know you probably can't wait!
We've had busy weekends...A week ago Friday we joined some friends for a surprise Anniversary party. Lots of good food and tasty beverages to quench our thirst.
Then on Saturday night we joined friends for dinner at Kobe Steak House. It was something new and different to do. It was entertaining watching the chef toss around his knives, and I was almost ducking under the table fearing that one of the knives was going to spin out of control. The food was good, the company was excellent!
This weekend we had good intentions of picking out our pumpkins for Halloween which is right around the corner! We met up with some wonderful friends yesterday at Apple Blossom Farms for a day of fun, shopping and eating. Who couldn't resist the bakery for some home made carmel apple pie and apple dumplings? The weather was perfect for enjoying our lunch outside on the picnic tables.
We left early to try and make it home by half time of the Bears game. I wanted to stop into an antique shop in Kickapoo to check out their array of Halloween decorations. I was hoping to find some vintage decorations to add to my collection. Instead I was drawn to this picture frame of the old Riverview Park in Chicago. I turned it over to see how much this classic cost, but at this time I already knew I had to have it regardless what the price tag was.
I have short but fond memories of Riverview. I was too young to go when my older brothers were able, and by the time I was old enough they suddenly closed. I only have a recollection of perhaps two or three times going, and remembering how much more fun this was than Kiddyland!

Ahhh...Riverview Park...Just for Fun!

Yeah! A post! Thats a cool find, and I don't even know of the place (but read about it via your link).
Do you carve the pumpkins? Or do you use them as they are decorations. My husband really wants to carve one this year with Lexie (its so hot we have to do it closer to the day), but I am content with letting her paint one as we usually have done. I guess I am no fun because I think the carving is a lot of work with not a lot of reward. And I am usually game for everything!
And you made me want warm pie! Thanks a lot! :)
becs...yes we do carve pumpkins and you know as soon as we do, I'll be posting pictures of them! We usually do the stencils carving because neither one of us are artistic! Here's a good link to decorating pumpkins!

I remember Riverview! Family vacations often meant a trip to Chicago. We were thrilled and didn't realize until much later, that it was about as cheap of a vacation as you could take! We didn't care, it was fun.
ramble...then you will appreciate my framed memorabilia of Riverview! To me it was a blast from the past! Now I have to figure out where I will hang it...
Hey, that really is quite a find! So did you actually get pumpkins? I know the apples were priced quite high and Steph said the pumpkins didn't look as good as the ones she got at Tanners, so I didn't even bother. But the SO said that apple dumpling thingy I got thinking it was a cream puff was excellent. Did mr w eat his?
wellrounded... (I left off the citizen because I was laughing so hard)
No, we didn't get any pumpkins so we will have to venture out this weekend to another pumpkin farm. I did see a lot that were already rotting, and said I wanted those to take home and try and nurse them back to health! Needless to say, I got some funny looks!
Mr W did eat the apple dumpling, and never said a word about it not being a creme puff, lol.
Ii keep laughing bc my high school was Riverview, and it happens to be my 10 Year Reunion this weekend. Its also the school that I coach at now.
THanks for the carving tips. We shall see if it happens because, again, that his husband territory and his schedule is crazy right now.
becs...10 year reunion? I think it's been 10 years since my last one!
I hope you got some apple pie! You know if I could I would send you one, but couldn't guarantee if it would still be warm by the time you got it!
I have seen your work, and you're artistic...you shouldn't have any problem creating a master piece pumpkin! Paint it pink, and make it a flamingo!
So... are those pumpkins carved yet? Let's see pics, lady!
No apple pie but i was the only one eating 2 pieces of chocolate cake at the reunion!
becs...no, the pumpkins aren't carved yet. Hopefully this weekend we'll get to them! It's been busy around here!
I'll post pumpkin pics as soon as we're done... :)
