Sue,
I am really sorry for what you are going through. You are definitely too nice of a person to be treated this way by your mother and son. I wish you the best with the situation you face, in having to resolve it. I know I am a new friend here, but I am a really good listener also if you need someone.
Take care.

I thought about the assisted living situation for Mom but she refuses to go because she has her little dog! I went thru the same crap when she HAD to give up her drivers license...why does everything have to be so dramatic?

Ch yah...thanks for the kind words! I have such great friends!

Sue,
Wow. I have never read such a manipulative, guilt-inducing letter before... wow. I'm with everyone above, all you can do is offer to help, if she declines, there isn't much you can do and you shouldn't feel guilty about that. (I really think some people don't want help, they really just want to be able to bitch.)
I hope this situation gets better soon, for your sake,
Jennifer

Thanks Katie! I'm hanging in there...You get used to it after a while (unfortunately)

Jennifer~I thought the same thing...guilt! I wrote her back and said...What the ???? I am too old for this crap! Thanks so much for your support!

This is EXACTLY and I mean EXACTLY what my dad does to me. Seriosuly. He is 78, and he just got out of Methodists crazy ward (for lack of a better term) for threatening suicide. He has been threatening this since I was a child though. I have had to hear years and years of his "Oh poor me" routine. When he figured out that I wasn't listening anymore, he ended up in the hospital. I wasn't impressed. You get very "jaded" after awhile hearing it over and over and OVER again, ya know?
So...I can completely understand what you are going through, here. Like I said before, if you need anything at all...let me know. We can bitch and moan about our parents together! :o)

Jadedgirl~ What is it with old people that go to such extremes to get attention?

Thanks for the ::hugs::
:)

They are like children all over again. The feed and diaper you, and come to you when you need attention, and then when they are elderly, they expect the same of you...which is ok, we kinda owe them. But, you can only do so much and still retain your own sanity, especially if you are like me and have a kid at home to raise.

Ugghhhh...

Life can be kinda unfair sometimes.

:o(

I will give you a call later on tonite after I put the kid to bed around 8:30.

Jadedgirl, it's not that it's unfair, it's just hard to understand! Such is life! I think about if I pulled this crap on my mother years ago, she would have slapped me upside the head and I would have been grounded for the rest of my life! Who knows what else! Yikes!

And let me add just one more thing...thank Gawd for blogs that you can release all these frustrations and have so many really true sincere friends to share with you your dysfunctional times in life!
Oh what a relief it is!

And that is one of the why I decided to do one. That and I wanted another record other than my memory about things happening in my life.

Katie~ What would we do without blogs! They should be called "vlogs" (Vent Logs)! :)
