I know...Gil looks like a gal because he's pinkish color, but there's a story behind why I picked him. You know how they have all those poor little fishy's in those little containers all by themselves, lined up... not even color coordinated, and there had to be about 50 of them to choose from. They had the girl Betta's on another shelf but they weren't as pretty as the males. Then they had regular ones and fancy ones. I decided I wanted a fancy one...I picked out a blue one at first, and this one in the cup next to it perked up, swam to the side of the little cup, and looked at me like he was saying...pick me! pick me! I put the blue one down and chose him instead...I swear, if he could have he would have been clapping his fins! He was one happy fish!
We got him all the stuff he needed to set up his new 5 gallon condo. Some gravel, pretty marbles, and two different varieties of food. One to enhance his color and the other is Betta Buffet...what ever that is.
So, Mr. Wonderful, Gil and I get into the car and I am holding Gil carefully as to not cause any white caps in his cup on the way home. I said, I need to name him because at this point, he was just little fishy in the cup. Mr. Wonderful says...you don't name fish! I reminded him of the two other fish I had at one time... Bubbles and Popeye! Yes, we do name fish! So now what do we do, go get a baby book with names to choose from? Mr. Wonderful is coming up with all these names, and I am just thinking to myself. No, I don't like Mr. Fins, can't name him Pinky because it's a boy, Bob doesn't fit, can't name him Bubbles, and what??? Dick? It came to me half way home..I said, I'm going to name him Gil! Mr. Wonderful said, okay that fits him!
We did some other shopping before my dentist appointment. I got a new toilet seat but don't worry, I will spare you by not posting a picture of it. It's just a plain regular white one. Nothing to write home about but it's better than the cracked one I had...I'm still searching for the right one...a Flamingo toilet seat!
We stopped into Linen's and things and I got some more Yankee candles because something about October, I need more of the Pumpkin Spice scent... At the checkout counter I couldn't resist the Godiva Chocolates, because you know chocolate and shopping go together and there's nothing that makes you feel better than shopping for chocolate!
After the dentist appointment we stopped into Pier 1 Imports because I just love that place! I'm looking for a zebra chair for my living room...why? I don't know, maybe because it's tacky and unusual. I did come across this must have find...Look~It's a frog doing Yoga!
I didn't get a new pair of shoes but I did get these...
Remember, Aunt Bee the receptionist at the dentist office thinks I'm legally blind!

oooooo... those glasses are so cute.
Thanks Jenninfer! You can't tell from the picture but they're pink and black checkered! And look! A matching case (like I'll ever use it!) I got them at the party store on University...Tepper's. I got to keep the small stores in business!
OMG.. we could have passed each other yesterday in the fish department, as we also got a new Betta fish! His name is Sushi, and hopefully he will live longer than the 2 weeks that the goldfish did. My daughter was devistated, as th fish are "her pets". The dog is only a family pet :)
Diane...Yes, he's already spoiled! He's in heaven in his new BIG tank!
Julie, We were there around 4:30, and I was talking to a little girl who was looking at the Betta's. She said she was going to ask her mom if she could get another one cuz her's died. BTW, Sushi is such a cute name! I Love it! I don't know anything about Betta's but I have a feeling I am going to learn a lot!
Please welcome Gil to the family for me.
Whenever I hear the name Gil,I think of the Muppets Take Manhattan, "I'm Bill, she's Jill and he's Gil." Hee Hee
Thank You Angie! I forgot about that movie...It's so good!
Hey Diane...You'll have to bring Annie & Pepe over to go swimming with Gil :) Seperate pools of course!
