It's amazing what you find when you move...Not only a lot of dust, but stupid stuff you've kept over the years. This is not my first move in umpteen years so I don't know why I didn't discover these treasures before or maybe I did, but erased it from my memory.
Going through boxes that have been securely taped up so nothing would spill out in transportation, I have to open each one so I can find a new hiding place for this junk I decided to move. I opened up one box, and low and behold it was filled with old cookbooks that I haven't seen for years. Matter of fact, I forgot I had them! Where have they been all these years? Out in the garage stuffed in a corner under a work bench. So now you know, besides Flamingo's I collect old cookbooks. It's not unusual for me to buy up every one at a garage sale or a flea market, and then have Mr. Wonderful ask... what are you going to do with those? You know honey, put them in a box with the rest of them!
While going through the books, I find one with some old lined notebook paper sticking out. I open it up, and there is something that I must have hand written in my younger days...I think I was going to write my own cookbook! It's titled "Who in the Hell is Betty Crocker?" I must have done some thorough research because I had the whole bio on Betty down to a tee. Included was some of my favorite recipes like "no-fail hot dogs", "perfect toast", of course "good old fashion boiled water" Ya think back then I had a sense of humor? Or maybe I just didn't know how to cook!
Who knows, maybe I'll pick up where I left off someday, and add some new recipes like Beer Bread, Beer Brats, Beer Soup, and of course...How to make ice cold Beer! And the title might be, Don't You Wish You Thought Of This Sam Adams?
It's a warm and comforting feeling finding the past, but then it makes me wonder... Why did I move this crap?
